Boy Scouts will lead NYC Pride March

For the first time ever, openly gay members of the Boys Scouts of America will be taking part in the 44th Annual New York City Pride March on 29 June. Considering that up until last January gay scouts could be kicked out of the organization, this is a huge step in the right direction.

"That local Scouts will now be leading one of the world's most iconic LGBT Pride events is a testament to both how far we've come and how far we have left to go in the pursuit of full equality," said Seth Adam, Director of Communications at GLAAD.

87-year-old David Knapp will be taking part in the march. He was kicked out of the Scouts in 1993 - after 55 years as part of the organization - when it was discovered that he was a 'mo.

Sadly, the BSA still has work to do. Although gay Scouts are now welcome, gay adult leaders are still banned.
